Proud Friend!

On the 4th of July... my best friend since Kindergarten ran a half marathon. I posted a small picture of us both in my recap but I wanted to "brag" on my friend for a moment... Stefanie! We call her Stefie!

Here she is... nearing the finish line at mile 13.1. INSANE! It was bright and early but at this point - VERY warm out!

She finished! It is not an easy thing to do... I can barely run 3-4 miles. I am so proud of her and her achievement. Stefie has always been someone that has SET her mind to something and FINISHED. I am encouraged by her!

Her friend Holly made the cutest shirt & bandana. Loved it! Support Loud & Proud!!

The cute Peters Family! :-) We love them!!!

I was thinking about this whole concept of Marathons. The bible uses a lot of illustrations... and I can really relate to this in life. The saying "life is a marathon not a sprint"... sometimes I think of that for me. I think you know, I love my life ... God has been so faithful but it feels like some things just last forever. Sometimes I want that SPRINT to the next thing or SPRINT to get something done. That's not how it works.

Then I thought about all of us that came to support Stefie (and her cousin Holly that ran) and I thought... we have people that SUPPORT us in life. They come alongside us, when the marathon gets too hard or too long. They give us "water" to make it to the next mile. I am encouraged by this analogy and want to thank Stefie for being an example in that way!! LOVE YOU STEF!!

Have any of you ran a marathon? Trained for one? Can relate to the analogy? Are NOT runners?

Good for Stefie! That's really admirable. I've never run a marathon, but I have a lot of respect for those who do. I've never been a very good runner, hehe.

Love your photos too!

I adore this message. Such a fantastic analogy that we can ALL relate to! I admire the dickens out of anyone that can dedicate themselves to running a marathon like that. My sister-in-law is training for one right now and my brother got her a new workout room for their anniversary to help her out! Another analogy that can be drawn from that: family is there to help you get to that finish lane and cheer for you when you reach it, making all that waiting and training worth it. I love it! So good for her! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the lovely warmth we're having. :)

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
