Mary.

I remember getting this book as a gift and reading it over and over again. It was/is one of my favs!

mary

It is written by Shannon Kubiak and my heart was enlightened to what God did in selecting Mary as his chosen daughter to carry baby Jesus. It is all about the CALLING that Mary has on her life and that WE too have a high calling. Somebody is preachin’ now. I love it… and would highly recommend it.
I love the verse… “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.” Luke 1:30-31

Who knows what Mary actually looked like, but this is what is in my mind when I think of her. Gentle, sweet and young. I am fascinated by the character of Mary… but she is SO MUCH MORE than just a nativity figurine. She is the mother of Jesus and she had a high calling and FAVOR all over her life. She was so fragile, tender and yet walked out in her calling in a majestic way.

I love that we can and DO have the favor of God on our lives too. I think that is why Mary is my favorite part of Christmas. She is a real person that we can relate to. No, I didn’t know Mary. No, I don’t really know what she was like, but we have the Bible that shares insights about her.
Favor by definition means – “ a. Friendly or favorable regard; approval or support: won the favor of the monarch; looked with favor on the plan. b. A state of being held in such regard: a style currently in favor.” source

God has shown me favor in my own life time and time again & I feel like I can relate to Mary (on a very, very minor level)… I am thankful for that THIS season and pray that I would remember and pause to think about all the FAVOR God has given us this year. It’s incredible!! To him be the glory!
