Spring Break

Spring Break

  • Finish editing wedding photos from this weekend.
  • Deep clean our home.
  • Organize crazy, cluttered areas.
  • Buy Bikes and go on bike rides.
  • Do a couple homework related things to “get ahead”
  • Spend extra time with my husband.
  • Sleep In!
  • Work out.
  • Just relax and do nothing. (ha!)

We all have them…everyday… and we all may never check the list totally “off”.

Then what? Is it the END of the world as we know it? NO! Life will go on. I find myself so often striving. Striving to get ONE more thing done. I am guilty of not just resting and BEING. The all too common verse:

“Be still and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10

Get’s me every. single. time. Am I EVER really just still? “Well, yes when I spend my quiet time with the Lord in the morning…” Yes, maybe but my mind is still being productive racing. I know that checklists are NOT bad. It is good to have goals, vision, and direction but if that is taking over… that is when it becomes a problem.

I am writing this to myself today, I need to get over it. I need to know that my world will not stop if I don’t check EVERYTHING off before my spring break ends. My God is gracious. He wants us to just pause and BE - because that’s when we hear him more clearly.

You are so right...I love marking things off lists! Maybe I should put "Just Be" on my list!

I hope your spring break is fabulous. I feel like your list is my list of "to-do's" ha! And yes, I get caught up in the same crazy life and sometimes I just need to be still. He wants me to just slow down and cherish life! Thanks for the reminder!

I am EXACTLY the same way! I make lists all the time and I get upset if I don't cross everything off. So I started making shorter lists. And sometimes it'll take me a few more days to get it done. I'm trying to get over the fact that it's not the end of the world if I don't get everything done!

Mr always has to pull me away from my lists and tuck me in bed (with long hugs to calm me down) so I can just relax!

And oh man, I don't remember the last time I had a spring break! lol.

In that case...God and I are pretty darn close!

"buy bikes and go bike riding"

This is my favorite. My bf and I have been building our bikes (well, he's done most of the work) but haven't had a chance to go riding yet. It's a great "To Do."

me and you would be bff in real life. i'm totally like this. it drives daniel nuts because i will get so stressed out if i dont mark everything off my list (and believe me, i can make some lists...haha)...i'm trying to learn how to just accomplish what i can and not worry about it. praying that God would give me a heart of peace.

Ria, what a great post!! You are so wise and a beautiful lady!!! I love how God shows us (gently) that those things are good, but not all we need to dwell on. I am really praying right now to know HIS Peace.

That is such a great to do list. We share some of the same ones. I am wanting to buy us bikes as well so that we can go on bike rides!

It's so hard to not get caught up in the "busy-ness" of life...I need to try harder to take time and be still!
