Food for Thought

“His word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105

Mmmhmm… his word is a lamp that lights our path. Hallelujah! I am not sure about you, but I need that :) THE B-I-B-L-E.

Did you ever have a LAVA Lamp when you were younger?? Maybe some of you still have your lava lamps? I loved my lava lamp. It was a blueish teal color with green lava. I had the hardest time being patient enough for it to heat up. I always wanted to shake it so that it could start working faster.

I was thinking about this and an analogy came to mind… Just like how the lava lamp takes time to heat up… sometimes we may feel that way when we read The Bible. It is such a vital part of our Christian walk, but all too often it can feel like a chore.

I’ve been there. I fight this often… even though I love the word of God. It is the lamp to our path. It helps us make decisions. It helps light the way when we don’t have the answers (which I rarely ever do). But, It may take time.

Patience is a HUGE virtue and I have learned that lesson time and time again. It may take time for us to get into a routine but it is important to start SOMEWHERE. Where are our bibles?

Being IN the word can change a lot of things (and I am TOTALLY speaking to myself on this one too)!!

AMEN Ria!! I think this is especially true for us as women. Unlike men, we tend to need more time to warm-up to people or things before we can just share the deepest part of our hearts!

So very true. I love reading it once I sit down and get into it. I just need to make the effort much more often.
