House Update 2.0

Hello all you lovelies!

I wanted to give you an update on our house situation... Quick Recap: Once upon a time we came home from our Honeymoon and the very next day... we were greeted with a wet upstairs living room & dripping water from our garage. More HERE.

And the result... it only took them 2 weeks to take care of our living room. We got pretty impatient and frustrated as we felt that was unacceptable! The communication between the insurance adjuster and construction workers was minimal, and they came to do the final carpet on my birthday! Of. All. Days. Good thing we planned to be out and about so we didn't have to be home...

When we did come home... This was the new baseboard they put in (on the burnt orange wall - to the right). Hmmm, a slightly different color :( Hey, maybe they were color blind? Hey, my hubby is too! Maybe they only had this color baseboard in their truck? Well... whatever the case, huge bummer! Not sure about you, but I would like the same color as the rest of my house (the wood on the left side). Am I asking too much - I am really NOT trying to be a Drama Queen. :(

Sadly, our Garage still looks like this:

And insulator men are suppose to be coming today orrr tomorrow! Let me just tell you... this "unexpected" experience has REALLY tested our patience. As a newly, married couple... challenges happen. We knew that going into marriage! Everyone gladly reminded us of this true reality before saying our vows. Well, here we are walking out in it.

There have been several valuable lessons learned through this process: patience, communication, assertiveness, remaining calm, and realizing this IS our home. I think that this happened to teach Josh and I what it means to be assertive and communicate properly. Joshy has done a great job following up with the construction workers and insurance adjuster. He is the head of our home and I am so proud of him for taking that place!

Soon everything will be back to normal... I realize that. I just want it to be in the "normal" condition that it was before. Not just a ho-hum job because they just wanted to get it done in the fastest time possible. That is what is disappointing!

My Mama always taught me:"Whatever you do, work at it with ALL your heart as working for the Lord, NOT men." Colossians 3:23

What a lesson to learn! It IS SO worth doing things right, giving it our all the FIRST time and also for THE LORD... not for men. I am challenged by this SO MUCH! How easy it is to just "go through the motions". I want to do things with ALL my heart, because I know it will be worth it!
Are you challenged by this? If so, how?

Ria- I really, really needed to hear that today. Teaching where I teach is HARD...and today I happened to stay home from school...dreading having to go back tomorrow. The verse you shared is incredibly inspiring and uplifting and I needed it so much. My job my suck at times but I need to remember that I am doing God's work and that I am there to be a light for my kids. Thank You! You and Josh are in my prayers...every thing will work out!

I'm sorry to hear about this :-( I would be frustrated too! I love that verse, though. One of my favorites! It keeps me going when all I want to do is lay down and quit!
