Tobie Cat: 1991-2009

Tobie is our family cat. I received Tobie as a present for my 3rd birthday... I wanted to name her Marissa... that got shot down... Tobie it was. It grew on all of us! About 2 or 3 years after she lived in our home, we discovered I was allergic to her. Pretty badly allergic. My sister, Jonna took her in as her own :) Jonna loved & cared for Tobie. All the time. Even when Jonna went away to College - Tobie knew. She was never the same!

Me [5yrs old], Tobie [3yr old] & Jonna [6yrs old]

Tobie never really grew bigger than a kitten-size. She was our petite little kitty-cat. We had some great moments with her... like...
  • Tobie getting scared while seeing a dog [on a camping trip] and scratching my sister's face as a defense mechanism. Thanks Tobe's for the scar on sister's face.
  • Katty, one of my best friends, twirling her around on the chair in our living room. So. Much. Love. Note: She did this almost every time she came to visit.
  • Pushing her around in a stroller as if she was our baby doll. Thanks Tobie for the hours, upon hours of fun as a child!

Sister, Tobie & I [2007]

I am sad to say, our dear family cat has gone to Heaven. She was not doing well these past few days & we all knew it was coming. Yesterday my sister drove home from college to say goodbye & found her peacefully passed on in her comfy-kitty-bed. My heart breaks mostly because my families does. Sister, Dad, Mom - I am so sorry!! We had 18, good, solid years with Tobe's... It will be so fun in heaven when we can see her again! I bet Jesus is holding her RIGHT now!

Do you have a pet? Have you ever lost one? It is terribly tragic, and I never knew how sad it would be!

I had a dog named Toby... he passed away my senior year in college :-( One of the hardest things to get over. He was our only childhood pet (besides hampsters...) My sympathies to your fam.

I don't even know how I got here, but have to tell you that I grew up with cats that lived 18+ years as well. This brings back memories of being home from college when one of them died. Sweet kitties that grew up with us! I know how you feel. Isn't it great that you have precious pictures to cherish?!! I will never forget the furry friends I grew up with. I hope you have a very blessed Christmas!

I stumbled across your blog. I'm a young 20 something myself who just tied the knot in July. I have enjoyed reading your posts. I wish you many years of happiness with your husband.

PS: I have lost a childhood pet when I was in high school. In addition, I let my mom keep our 10 year old cocker spaniel when my husband and I married and moved away (although it is only 40 minutes away). Pets are special blessings; they love us unconditionally. It breaks your heart when they are not with us any longer. I'm thankful for all my years with my dog and all the memories and hope there will be more memories until they, too, are with Jesus.

Oh Ria! I totally had to go through this same situation last year. We had to put down my cat Sammy after having her for 9 years because she got really sick. It was so sad and heartbreaking, especially after having her for so long!

We had our grandpa die in march of last year :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:((:( (Not Dave!!Frank who lives in CA) And we had sadie our cat and our guinea pig Callie die and most of our guppies and our mousey we just found him on the st. and hayley almost ran over him because she thought it was a piece of mulch but she was glad she did not! it was a poor little baby mouse when we took him in side we feed him a banana he lasted two nights:( but my mom thinks that he was injured by a fall or something because he was in the middle of the road so...... and when we saw him walking around in his bucket he walked kinda funny looking.
